Sean and Melody {Married! – Part 1}

Today I have Part 1 of Sean and Melody’s beautiful mountain wedding to share with you. This couple got married last Fall on 9.10.11 at Deer Creek Valley Ranch in beautiful Bailey, CO. David and I have gotten to know Sean and Mel since they booked us last April and they have become good friends of ours. They are such a beautiful couple, both inside and out and we had so much fun photographing them. In fact, there were so many gorgeous photos from this wedding I had to divide it into two posts! Melody and Sean first met when Melody helped her college girlfriend, Liz, move from Boston to Denver for a Colorado man (they always get ya!). Melody was instantly won over by Sean’s good looks, charm and goof-ball ways. But Sean had a girlfriend. A few months later Sean became single and Liz started dropping hints that Melody and Sean should get together. The girls laughed about it and joked that it was just because Liz wanted Mel to move to Denver too. Then Liz and her CO man, got married and Sean and Melody were both in the wedding. They didn’t quite hit it off right away  in fact, he spent much of the weekend avoiding this interesting and pretty girl, largely because she lived on the other side of the country and he didn’t want to get involved. But the connection was undeniable and they started talking on the phone shortly after Melody returned to Massachusetts. One phone call turned into a bunch of texts which turned into 2-4 hour conversations every night. They began to fall for each other from 2000 miles away. Within two months, Melody flew out to CO to visit and they had their first kiss in the airport when he picked her up. The following months were spent getting to know one another through endless conversations, flying back and forth, Skyping and falling in love. After 10 months, they decided to give the whole thing a real shot and Melody moved to Denver where it was confirmed that they were meant to be together. Deer Creek Valley Ranch is a newer Colorado wedding venue and let me just tell you it is AMAZING!! Such gorgeous scenery for the perfect Colorado Mountain wedding.

This bridal party was pretty fun….I bet you can’t tell at all by the photo below.


In their ceremony, Sean and Mel washed each others feet. I have never seen this in a ceremony before and I loved it. What a symbol of serving one another.
