We recently shot Rick and Lindsey’s Wedding in the mountain rafting town of Salida, CO. It was such a unique and beautiful wedding that I realized I still needed to share their engagement photos which is where the story really begins. Rick and Lindsey both live in Salida, CO which is very fitting since Rick is a rafting guide and they both have a love for river rafting. In 2008, Rick and Lindsey met on a river trip down the Royal Gorge section of the Arkansas River that runs through Canon City, Colorado. They were acting as a safety boat for the Royal Gorge Race that was happening that Summer. They had an instant connection. Rick and Lindsey became great friends and they started dating a year later.
On December 23, 2011, the couple was walking along the F Street bridge over the Arkansas River, where Rick bent down on one knee and asked Lindsey to marry him!! Of course Lindsey said “Yes!”. Cars honked, people clapped, and Lindsey cried in glee for about an hour after he proposed. They went out to lunch at the Laughing Ladies Restaurant, where they were treated with champagne and “Congratulations”.

It was fun to incorporate the “rafting” theme that is such a big part of this couple’s history into their engagement shoot.
They actually brought their Kayak all the way from Salida to Denver’s Platte river where we took these photos.
