You guys, I have been DYING to share this engagement shoot with you!! It has to be one of my favorite engagement sessions to date. When Ashley approached me last April about having David and I shoot her and Rob’s Washington DC Wedding this coming May, we were of course ecstatic. We haven’t been there since shooting Dylan and Ashley’s Engagement shoot in 2010 and have been dying to go back ever since. THEN she told me her idea for the Engagement Shoot and I died. “I don’t sail…but absolutely my favorite place to be is on a boat. If we can find a sailboat to rent what do you think?” Please and thank you. It just so happens that we were shooting a wedding in California in August and that Rob and Ashley were guests at that Wedding…so we convened the day after in Marina del Rey for a day of sailing…and shooting.
Rob and Ashley are seriously my favorite type of couple to shoot. For starters they are both beautiful and should be on the cover of a magazine. Secondly, they could not be any cuter together and their natural and fun interactions with one another is what I live to capture as a photographer. And most importantly, they are such an easy going and fun couple to be around. We had such a fun day with them, despite the fact that I was throwing up over the side of the boat part of the time. Yup, that’s right, I am embarrassed to admit that, as my dad is a Yacht Broker and an avid sailer who raced in the America’s Cup, so I grew up on boats. Dad, I know you read my blog, so please don’t disown me for this…the only explanation is that my center of gravity was all thrown off by looking through my view finder the entire time. Regardless, we had the BEST day with these two, throw up and all! Stay tuned for Part 2…I’ll share the story of how Rob and Ashley met and all I will say is the photos are full of glitz and glam!
