Deacon John // 4 Months

FILED IN: Families, Personal

Well it’s true what they say, time really does go by much faster with the second child!! I can’t believe our sweet baby Deacon was already 4 months on June 9th. In typical second time mom fashion I am not as good at taking photos of him or writing things down and I hate that! He’s just as important to me as Parker was/is and I want to look back and be able to remember this time. When Parker was a baby every month I posted some photos on here and wrote an update about what he was doing at that stage. Well to date I have not done that for Deacon, but I would like to start now. Who knows maybe I will even go back and write a post for 2 and 3 months from memory so I have something to look back on.

Right after Deacon turned 4 months old we went out to California to shoot a wedding and see my family. So we decided to take a few family photos with Deacon to memorialize what he looks like at 4 months (and Parker at 3.5 years). At 4 months this little guy isn’t quite so little anymore! He was 26.25 inches long (88th %) and 14 lbs. 5 oz (22nd %) at his 4 month check up and definitely doesn’t seem like a newborn anymore! He’s very alert and smiley and loves his older brother. Anytime Parker is in his line of vision he is quite captivated by him and usually smiling. His reflux seems to be coming back some so we do still experience some bouts of fussiness to extreme crying, but for the most part he’s doing pretty good. Still a big improvement from month two! Right now he hates riding in the car and instead of lulling him to sleep he often cries until I stop and go to him which I hate! LUCKILY, any fussiness is trumped by the fact that he is an EXCELLENT sleeper just like his big bro. He is sleeping 10-12 hours at night and on a good day can nap for 3 hours. He has always been a good sleeper, but in the last month has started sleeping on his belly which has helped him sleep even that much longer. On our trip to CA he found his thumb! It looks like both our boys might be thumb suckers and while I hate that Parker still sucks his thumb, there are days I am grateful DJ can soothe himself using that one little finger. We’re getting ready to start solids with this little guy and just bought some sweet potatoes to try first. Now if I can just find the time to actually make them…that’s the typical chaos around our house but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
