Jimmy and Jen {Engagement}

Today’s post holds a special place in my heart. I grew up with Jen, who back then was Jenny Cunningham, and she is like a little sister to me. Her older sister Kristin is one of my best friends. I had the honor of photographing Kristin’s wedding back in 2011 and now I am lucky enough to photograph Jen’s as well! I realized Jen and Jimmy’s Wedding is quickly approaching this March and I better get on the stick and post their Engagement session from this past Summer! It’s so hard to keep the blog up to date…too many great photos to post, but I didn’t want to miss these!

I remember when this couple met. We were all in High School, it was 1999 and Jen was a Freshman and Jimmy was a Junior. They met at “The Crest” pool and immediately hit it off but were not ready to admit to themselves (and each other) that they were ready to date. They did, however, get each others pager numbers and began sending messages to each other in pager code every day. I love that this relationship pre-dated cell phones! Oh pagers.

For Jen’s 15th birthday, she had a party at the pool in her neighborhood. Jimmy couldn’t attend because he was on a family vacation but told Jen he would make up for it and take her to dinner and a movie. Although every single friend of theirs said it was a date, Jen and Jimmy were too shy to admit it. Jimmy took Jen to dinner and then took her to go see Big Daddy in Newport Beach. Although they didn’t start dating until 6 months after that first date, that was the first time that both Jen and Jimmy realized that they “liked” each other. Who would have thought that 13 years later, they would be getting married?!?!?! So excited for these two and so happy to be a part of their big day all these years later.

We capped off the afternoon by heading over to the Montage in Laguna Beach for some sunset pics.

This light was YUMMY and to die for!  Jimmy and Jen’s sweetness here doesn’t hurt either.
