Last month we celebrated Deacon’s first birthday with a Winter wONEderland brunch. We are so thankful to all DJ’s Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and grandparents for coming to celebrate him turning one! We are so lucky to have so much family nearby and thankful to my mom “G-Ma” who flew out! The day was complete with paper snowflakes, polar bears, penguins, paper chains, a hot chocolate bar and yummy brunch goodness! Since brunch is quite possibly my favorite meal we had lots of delicious food to celebrate: pumpkin cinnamon rolls, chocolate croissants, spinach and egg strata, chocolate chip scones, egg casserole and fruit salad. The kids went nuts for the hot chocolate bar where they could customize their own hot chocolate with whipped cream, homemade marshmallows, chocolate and caramel sauce, sprinkles, crushed peppermint and chocolate chips. One of my favorite additions were spoon stirrers in white chocolate peppermint, salted caramel and dark chocolate toffee. Towards the end of the party we sang “Happy Birthday” to the birthday boy and enjoyed some dessert. This was Deacon’s second time trying cake (the first time a week earlier on his actual birthday) and I am not sure he knew what to make of it. All in all it was a great day filled with family and fun, and while Deacon may not remember it we sure will! Below are some photos of the day as well as some I took of him at one year, enjoy!
