Right after his party last year, Deacon informed me, “Next year I want a dinosaur party!”…and a dinosaur party we had!!! This was quite the DIY affair with lots of Dino details and bright primary boy colors- Red (DJ’s fav), green and blue. I made party hats with dinosaur spikes for the kids to wear as soon as they walked in the door. We had name tags for guests to find their equivalent “dinosaur name” using the first letter of their name and the last letter of their name with the list provided. Deacon’s was “Megala Vore”. The kids started the party by coloring dinosaur placemats with different species of dinosaurs to choose from.
We even had the food themed to Herbivores, Carnivores, “Sweetivores” and the Watering Hole. Deacon specifically requested dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, easy peasy. David wanted chicken wings. Carnivore section done. Grapes, chips and guac and a veggie plate for the Herbivores. For dessert we had cupcakes with dino spikes, dino dirt cups and a beautiful HOMEMADE cake made special for Deacon by our dear friend Christina.
For a game we had Feed the T-Rex which is basically like Corn Hole. David did QUITE the job making it and it was definitely the hit of the party! The kids LOVED it and wanted to keep playing long after the winners were determined. We sent the kids home with Dino Eggs (jellybeans) and a dinosaur toy (Adopt a Dino). We had such a fun time celebrating our not-so-little guy and are so thankful for all the friends and family that came to party!
Thank you also to Christina again for making my mom and I our “Mamasaurus” and “G-masaurus” shirts!
