Early this Fall I had the opportunity go to Minnesota to shoot a very dear friend of ours wedding. This was my first time to Minnesota and I must say, I loved it! It’s beautiful and somewhat like I imagined, yet even better! We were there in mid-September and Fall was just starting to set in. The leaves were starting to change, there was a chill in the air and an overall Fall quality (that I love) served as the perfect backdrop for Amy and Barrett’s wedding. The wedding took place in Amy’s hometown of Stillwater, which is such a neat town! If you have never been I highly recommend it. The day was perfect. Amy was an absolutley beautiful bride, surounded by her friends and family. She was so excited, yet nervous to see Barrett. And when they did see each other in a private moment before the ceremony, everything was as it should be. It was like watching two halves completing the whole.
The ceremony took place at St. Michaels, which holds a special significance because this is where Amy’s parents were married. Following the ceremony, was the “Father of the Bride” style reception (as Amy puts it) which took place in a glowing tent in her parents backyard. A highlight of the night, was when amidst the Best Man’s speech a hot air balloon landed in the backyard!! An unplanned, yet awesome detail that completed the day.
Amy and Barrett, David and I know God has brought you two together. Seeing you guys together, one can’t help but know it is meant to be. We feel so honored to have been such a close part of your wedding day and hope the photos help you to remember it forever. We can’t wait to see you guys in 3 weeks!

Amy’s dress was amazing and unlike any I have seen before (and I have seen a lot!). I loved this lace detailing!
They had a red adirondack chair…so obviously I used it.
Barrett and Amy’s private first look before the ceremony.
After their first look, we made them pose in the middle of the street for some portraits. That is downtown Stillwater in the background. And oh yes, those are cars driving around them. 🙂
Here are a couple shots with the beautiful church in the background.
Their vintage getaway car!
We headed to Pioneer Park for some more portraits. You can see St. Mike’s steeple in the background!
Looking out over the St. Croix River that runs through downtown Stillwater.
As I mentioned above, during the Best Man’s speech we heard a loud noise coming from outside the tent. Everyone ran outside and low and behold a hot air balloon was landing in their backyard! Everyone was wondering if it was a planned event…it wasn’t…just a lucky coincidence!
The party was hoppin’ until the wee hours of the night!
Such beautiful picture and Amy and Barrett look amazing – this was SUCH a fun wedding!!!
Wooo hoo! I love it!
