Parker’s Nursery

Well I have had a lot of people asking to see photos of the nursery, so I thought it would be easier just to post them on here for everyone to see. I finally got around to taking some decent photos of the room, I had wanted to do it before Parker was born but didn’t get around to it until now. But these are so much better since he is in some of them! I think he looks pretty darn cute in his room, what do you think?

David and I completely redid the entire room for our little man. It was such a fun project! Once we found out we were having a boy, we knew we wanted to do a Nautical/Beachy theme. Partly because we wanted to bring some of our California “roots” to Colorado, but also because I love anything Preppy and reminiscent of the East Coast…which made it VERY easy for me to find cute things to incorporate in. Another reason we found this theme fitting is my dad Doug (Parker’s “King Fish” who he is also named after) is a yacht broker and loves to sail. So I grew up around the nautical world, maybe this is why I love bold colors, clean lines and the preppy look? Either way, the room started as an electric blue which David and I repainted white on the bottom and a denim blue on top. We added a chair rail and crown moulding which really made a huge difference I think. We then bought our crib and chest. I love how the dark wood pops nicely against the white walls. The rest was a lot of decorative touches that we put a lot of time and thought into.

Some really special details about the room are the sailboat quilt and the nautical flags above the crib that spell out his name. The quilt was handmade by mom (Parker’s “G-Ma”) and is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Her and I spent a lot of time picking out each and every fabric (which many of them ended up being from men’s shirts) and then decided on the pattern. She spent hours upon hours sewing the quilt with help from Parker’s Uncle Julie. The name sign was handmade for Parker by his Great Auntie Carol. She had made a similar sign for my baby shower and David and I loved it so much she offered to make one with his name on it. Thank you all so much for creating such beautiful things for us and Parker, he will have these the rest of his life!

The beautiful quilt was a labor of love made by Parker’s G-Ma. It’s the most beautiful quilt I’ve ever seen! This sock monkey was Tucker’s gift to Parker.
