It’s December 24th, Christmas Eve, and admist all the hustle and bustle of last minute shopping, buying stocking stuffers, getting all the food for the Christmas feast, hearing carols for the umpteenth time this season on the radio…I take a minute to be still. All my presents have been wrapped (just barely), all my cards have been sent…and I realize why we all make such a fuss over this holiday….the true meaning behind Christmas. “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 Tomorrow we celebrate Jesus’s birthday and I want to remember that this is what all the “fuss” is about…not the presents, not the parties, not the food. I want to remember that Christmas is a time for family, friends and sharing our blessings with one another. I hope you all count your blessings tomorrow and enjoy the comforts of family and home whatever shape those might take.
Now a few excerpts from my favorite Christmas Poem….
Twas the night before Christmas…
our stockings are hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon will be here!
Soon we’ll be nestled all snug in our beds,
While visions of sugar-plums dance in our heads.
But we heard him exclaim,
love it, thanks for a beautiful reminder to take a step back from all the “fuss” and remember the true meaning of what we are celebrating. we’ll miss you guys tomorrow, have a very merry Christmas
